The retrofit of Vasco da Gama (ex. Statendam) – Fincantieri Monfalcone BN 5881, 1992

Vessel Information

Built: 1992, Fincantieri Monfalcone

Owner: Mystic Invest

Type: Cruise vessel

Høglund was awarded the contract to refit the existing ABB MP200 / ABB XA control system onboard Vasco da Gama by V.Ships (management) and Mystic Invest (owner).

The vessel underwent a major four-week dry-dock operation in April 2025 at Lisnave Shipyard in Setúbal, Portugal. In addition to the IAS/PMS upgrade, the ABB propulsion Cyclo Converters were also refitted, in cooperation with General Electric.

The scope of Høglund’s refit included:

  • Integrated Automation System (IAS)
  • Power Management System (PMS)
  • Sulzer Engine Safety System (EC40)
  • Barton Tank Sounding System
  • Navalimpianti Valve Control System

In addition to system integration and reconnection, Høglund carried out an extensive and time-consuming cleanup of all I/O cabinets to ensure the final delivery would result in a reliable, future-proof system that the crew can easily maintain.

It required significant effort to bring clarity to a very complex setup.
