MS Bolette- a Critical Upgrade Delivered with Precision.
Vessel Information:
Built: 1988, Fincantieri
Owner: Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines
Type: Cruise Vessel
Høglund was awarded the contract to replace the existing ABB AC450 Integrated Automation System (IAS) onboard MS Bolette by Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines.
The vessel underwent a tight dry-dock schedule from January 5th to February 2nd, with the main execution phase carried out at Falmouth Dry Dock starting January 19th.
With only three weeks available from docking to commissioning, the project required full system replacement, testing, and verification ahead of sea trial and passenger operations.
The scope of Høglund’s refit included:
- Replacement of obsolete ABB AC450 system with S100 I/O
- Disconnection, reconnection, configuration, and testing of approximately 5,400 I/O signals
- Full system commissioning prior to sea trial
In addition to system replacement and integration, Høglund executed the project with 19 engineers working around the clock onboard. Close cooperation with Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines and other suppliers ensured efficient progress despite multiple parallel activities.
The upgraded system also introduced Høglund Playback, providing the crew with enhanced system insight and a stronger foundation for future optimization.
The vessel successfully completed sea trials and departed on schedule for its transatlantic voyage.
